Somatics and Conscious Embodiment.

A somatic approach to life is about claiming our authenticity and aliveness through accessing the fluid nature and full spectrum of our being. In other words, somatic perspectives and tools honor the fullness of our experience as human animals and beyond and have emerged to support us in opening to the wisdom of our body, acknowledging that we are more than just our thinking mind.

Conscious embodiment means being aware of our body both inwardly and outwardly as we move through space. Movement is a way of distributing our awareness beyond our cognitive mind into our body and multi-layered being. When we come into presence and bring awareness to our body and our movement we can access non-thinking planes of consciousness that support our expansion, healing, and  aliveness.

There are two primary reasons to work explicitly and intentionally with the body. The first is to practice tuning into the deep wisdom that the body always has to offer. The second is to increase fluidity and flexibility of the nervous system including the mind. Together we will explore the body through movement, dance, various psycho-somatic practices, and the use of an experiential relational lens called Somatic Experiencing®.

Somatic Experiencing® is a framework pioneered by biophysicist and psychologist Peter Levine, PhD that supports coming into experiential fluidity and behavioral flexibility through contacting the multi-channel perceptual field of our body including especially our nervous system.
